Max Werner scored a huge solo hit with the openingstrack "Rain In May". Max made a complete album around this drum-heavy sound. Being a good drummer and with his voice, often compared to Phil Collins, it was not a big surpise many critics wrote that Max had copied Phil. Obviously the critics hadn't listen to Max's 1st soloalbum "Rainbows End".

Max Werner (born in ) This is his first solo album, resembling the Kayak sound of the early 70's. Rainbows End / Beware of the Dog / Tale of Tenderness / Sir Dance-Alot / Help Me to do it Alone / Longsleeper / A Deadly State of Mind / Secrets of Mother Earth / .

Beware of the Dog was Hound Dog Taylor's posthumous live album containing performances that are even steamier than his first two studio albums, if such a notion is possible. For lowdown slow blues, it's hard to beat the heartfelt closer "Freddie's Blues," and for surreal moments on wax, it's equally hard to beat the funkhouse-turned-loony bin dementia of "Let's Get Funky" or the hopped up.

The album utilises modern technology, including sequencers and what sounds like Prophet brass riffs on several tracks including Rainbows End itself and Beware Of The Dog. However, rather surprisingly, Werner's Mellotron crops up on several tracks, although he only uses the choirs. The title tracks sounds more like a Roland Vocoder, although I.
